Michelle J Raymond: So podcasting for me started initially because a friend of mine
00:00:04
said to me, Michelle, you need a podcast.
00:00:06
Now I don't listen to them.
00:00:08
I don't enjoy them.
00:00:09
And I said to her, why would I need a podcast?
00:00:12
And she said, it's to build your authority and your personal brand.
00:00:15
You need one.
00:00:16
And I was like, okay.
00:00:17
So my brain went into let's figure out how to do a podcast.
00:00:22
And so I started one with no plan, no strategy, no audience in mind.
00:00:27
And that was nearly two years ago, over 120 episodes I've done so far.
00:00:33
And I realised partway through that actually I need to stop and think,
00:00:40
what is the point of this podcast?
00:00:42
Why am I doing it?
00:00:44
Who am I doing it for?
00:00:46
And why should they care?
00:00:48
And I went back to what's due, which is being in service of other people.
00:00:51
There is so much misinformation when it comes to LinkedIn and social media platforms, the
00:00:57
people that I deal with are so overwhelmed that they don't know which advice to listen to.
00:01:02
So the Social Media for B2B Growth podcast I've developed so that between myself and
00:01:08
the expert guests that I hand select from around the world who are at the top of
00:01:12
their game can come and deliver a message that's both actionable and trustworthy.
00:01:19
And that credibility is really important to me.
00:01:22
I don't just have anyone that sends a request to be on the podcast.
00:01:25
They are hand selected.
00:01:27
And most importantly, what I want people to do is to be able to take action.
00:01:32
And what I've discovered about podcast listeners, and I love them for this, it's
00:01:37
a really loyal and intimate relationship because you're in their ear talking to them.
00:01:43
And I've had some pretty funny comments from people that would be like, your
00:01:47
voice is like honey, your voice is calming, and all these kinds of things.
00:01:50
And the reason I raised this is because when I first started, I could think of no reason that
00:01:56
anyone would ever want to listen to my voice.
00:01:59
And now I've got this successful podcast where people aren't judging me
00:02:03
on those things that I cut myself off.
00:02:04
They're judging me for what I deliver show after show.
00:02:08
And so I have come so far, my audience has come on that journey with me.
00:02:12
And for me, I didn't realise just how connected you can be to people that listen to podcasts.
00:02:18
So I love all of my listeners.
00:02:20
It's.
00:02:20
It's something that is now a core piece of my strategy, and I love to help
00:02:24
other people to learn why I do that.
00:02:27
You know, that's why I do these things.
