Over the last eight or so episodes, we've been doing a lot of planning for 2025
00:00:05
success, but in this week's episode, the last one for the year, I hope you'll indulge
00:00:10
me as I reflect on the year that was 2024.
00:00:31
G'day everyone.
00:00:32
It is coach Michelle J Raymond, and this is the final podcast episode that I'll be
00:00:37
doing for this year before I take a well earned break and start planning around
00:00:43
what's happening for the podcast in 2025.
00:00:46
Listeners, this episode is going to be a little bit different and I hope you'll
00:00:51
indulge me while I share some of the achievements that have happened for me
00:00:55
personally and in my business for this year.
00:00:58
I want it to serve as inspiration for other people to show exactly what is possible
00:01:03
when you leverage LinkedIn for growth.
00:01:06
And I'm just really grateful because it didn't start out this way.
00:01:11
If we go back and rewind the clock back to February and take a look, I woke up one morning
00:01:18
to an email, which at first I thought wasn't real.
00:01:21
It was from LinkedIn's legal team with a cease and desist, telling me that I
00:01:25
needed to change the name of this podcast.
00:01:28
Otherwise I was going to lose my whole LinkedIn account.
00:01:31
And there was a little bit more to it, but needless to say, I was devastated.
00:01:36
And the consequences of that name change meant that my reasonably steady download
00:01:42
numbers, which I had been growing for, you know, 18 months before that.
00:01:47
all of a sudden kept spiraling out of control.
00:01:50
And it got to July and I was at a point where I thought there is no way that I can stop this.
00:01:57
I've tried everything I know.
00:01:58
I don't know how to get it back up again.
00:02:01
That's it.
00:02:02
It's almost over.
00:02:03
I've got two choices.
00:02:05
I shut the thing down, or I reach out and ask an expert for help.
00:02:09
Shout out to Neal Veglio because if it wasn't for you and your expertise and getting
00:02:15
this podcast back in front of people on their podcast platforms so that they could
00:02:20
listen and learn and enjoy the podcast.
00:02:23
I wouldn't be here today, literally having this particular episode, and we've gone over
00:02:28
150 episodes of this podcast, which I'm super proud of because It is hard work showing up week
00:02:36
after week, doing the work, talking out into the abyss, hoping that the listeners out there
00:02:42
are enjoying this, that they're getting value.
00:02:44
And I don't know who you are.
00:02:46
So when you hear my messages throughout the podcast saying, please reach out and connect
00:02:51
with me, let me know that you're a listener.
00:02:53
They are genuine because I would love you to be a part of my community over on LinkedIn.
00:02:58
So this is another shout out requesting that, but I am so glad that I kept going because if I
00:03:04
didn't keep going, not only would I have missed out on reaching the 150 episode milestone, I
00:03:12
would have also missed out on reaching one of my dream podcast episodes that I had at the very
00:03:19
beginning, when I started this process, I wrote down a list of people who I'd love to talk to.
00:03:24
And Ann Handley was one of them.
00:03:27
And I got to tick that episode off my podcast bucket list just a few episodes ago.
00:03:32
If you missed it, go back and check it out.
00:03:34
Apologies for all the fan girling in there, but.
00:03:37
It was one of those moments where I recognised just how far I'd come
00:03:42
from the beginning to where I am now.
00:03:44
And that is kind of going to be the flavour of today's episode of the achievements in 2024 that
00:03:51
I've been able to generate through LinkedIn.
00:04:00
Being able to speak on international stages was something I'd never done before.
00:04:05
And this year was my first time of doing that.
00:04:07
So speaking at Social Media Marketing World in San Diego, in the USA, followed
00:04:12
by the Linked Summit in Denmark as well.
00:04:16
They were massive highlights for me.
00:04:18
That was a dream that I never even thought was possible.
00:04:22
So next year I am going to be speaking at Uplift Live in the UK.
00:04:26
So if you're anywhere in that part of the world, I hope that you'll come.
00:04:29
If you haven't got your tickets yet, reach out to me.
00:04:31
I've got a couple of special codes that I can give to a limited number of people
00:04:35
to bring the price of your ticket down.
00:04:37
So make sure if you're thinking about it, that you reach out to me
00:04:40
before those opportunities are gone.
00:04:43
I've been invited back to Social Media Marketing World to speak again.
00:04:47
Can't wait to see all the people that I met last year.
00:04:50
And there's a third place that I'm going to next year, which I can't announce just yet.
00:04:57
But again, super excited to have the opportunities to travel the world
00:05:01
because of my love of Company Pages.
00:05:03
Like that is mind blowing as far as this goes.
00:05:13
Speaking is a great thing, but ultimately I use LinkedIn to grow a business.
00:05:18
Like that's what I'm here for.
00:05:19
I've looked at my LinkedIn analytics and they're all going really great
00:05:23
despite the challenges of the platform.
00:05:25
But realistically, let's have a look at, what difference it made for my business.
00:05:30
And I'm happy to report.
00:05:31
I've done things like set new revenue goals.
00:05:34
I've had my highest sales month on record.
00:05:38
We've got the highest profit going through and why you should care about this is this
00:05:43
is the exact framework that I use to grow my business is what I teach my clients.
00:05:48
So if you're wondering why you didn't get that kind of growth this year, and even though it's
00:05:53
a tough financial market, the opportunities on LinkedIn are there for us to take.
00:05:58
So if you need some help to figure out how to do that in 2025, I'm going to remind you
00:06:03
that's exactly what I do with my clients.
00:06:05
So Don't be afraid to reach out and see how we can work together.
00:06:08
But what's wealth if you don't have health and, you know, something that I put my mind
00:06:14
to around a year ago was to try and get myself back in better shape and fit and healthy
00:06:21
so that when I was speaking on stages, I would have the confidence that I wanted.
00:06:25
And I use those as the motivators and I'm now 24 kilos down or 50 pounds if you're
00:06:32
in the U S or three stone, whatever that is to my friends over in the UK, but.
00:06:37
I feel like a different person.
00:06:40
That's not to say that in this last week of the year, I don't feel
00:06:43
like a couple of afternoon naps.
00:06:46
I'm ready for a break and I can't wait to take some of that time off and come back into the new
00:06:51
year recharged, because there's lots of cool stuff that I've got planned and yeah, to be able to do
00:06:57
it with the energy that I have now is super cool.
00:07:00
So I'm proud of myself for making that happen.
00:07:02
Cause it's certainly wasn't easy and required me to go back to what it
00:07:08
was like to be a beginner at things.
00:07:11
And so if you're someone that's just starting out on LinkedIn, I know what it's like to do something
00:07:16
that you don't feel like you're very good at, or maybe you think everyone else is better than you.
00:07:20
I've just been there and done that.
00:07:21
And so I can totally relate and I bring that kind of empathy when I'm working with clients.
00:07:27
I know what it's like when you're starting out.
00:07:54
Guess I'm probably talking really quickly in this episode when I think about it,
00:07:58
because I'm so excited, but I'm mostly excited for my clients that I've worked
00:08:03
with and the achievements that they've got.
00:08:05
I've watched people who have been kind of stuck in a rut or on the spot, all of a sudden get traction
00:08:12
and start moving further towards their goals.
00:08:15
The number of clients that I've rewritten their LinkedIn profiles so they're
00:08:19
no longer underselling themselves.
00:08:22
That I love because I have had the privilege of working with some amazing
00:08:26
people all over the world who are really doing work that makes our societies better.
00:08:32
And to play a really small piece in that, to make sure that they're discovered on LinkedIn
00:08:37
that people know exactly how good they are.
00:08:40
Like these are the kinds of things that I just love doing.
00:08:43
And you know, what's cool about that is a lot of them were actually podcast listeners, so
00:08:48
for those people who've been listening and then finally the timing's right and we get to work
00:08:53
together and it's just been absolutely brilliant.
00:08:57
So to the podcast listeners who became clients, you have a special place in my heart
00:09:02
this year, as I reflect on the successes.
00:09:05
You're exactly why I do what I do.
00:09:12
I know that I've just covered a lot about what's been going on for me in 2024, but, I
00:09:20
need you all to know that none of this would be possible without the love and support of Lil.
00:09:25
She is the other half of B2B Growth Co.
00:09:27
She's my other half.
00:09:28
She's the one that helps me bring the vision to life.
00:09:32
So it's not just stuck as great ideas in my head.
00:09:36
My words to her when she first started in the business with me is.
00:09:40
All I need you to do is take what's in my head and help me execute it out in the world.
00:09:46
And we are complete and utter opposites.
00:09:48
And I absolutely needed her skills in the business to help me achieve that.
00:09:54
And, you know, working with your partner, if you've ever tried doing that before, it's not
00:09:58
easy living together working together 24/7.
00:10:02
We've had to both grow and figure out how to do this and I'm really
00:10:06
proud of us and what we've achieved.
00:10:08
She's the one that brings this podcast together every week and makes sure that it's out on time
00:10:14
and helps me with all the behind the scenes stuff.
00:10:16
If it wasn't for Lil, all of this doesn't happen.
00:10:20
And so I want to use this podcast episode to say thank you to her.
00:10:25
You are my everything.
00:10:26
I appreciate you and I can't wait to see what we do next year.
00:10:37
Listeners, I really appreciate you indulging me and allowing me to use this episode
00:10:44
to reflect on my achievements for 2024.
00:10:48
It's really easy to just always be busy, always keep chasing the next big thing,
00:10:53
always be working and not actually stopping for a moment and looking back and going.
00:10:58
Wow is that how far I've come?
00:11:01
So if you have been doing the same, take a moment over the holiday break, take a
00:11:06
look back and realise exactly how much you've achieved over the last year.
00:11:10
As we go into this holiday break I know that it can be fun.
00:11:14
I know that it can be relaxing and recharging and all of those good things that we
00:11:19
look forward to at this time of the year.
00:11:21
But I also want to acknowledge the people out there who might be going through loneliness
00:11:26
and separation from friends or family that they want to be close to and it's just not possible.
00:11:32
Or for those of you who have lost people and they're no longer here to
00:11:35
celebrate this time of year with us.
00:11:37
I just want to let you know that I'm thinking of you and I hope that 2025 brings you
00:11:43
the joy and the success that you deserve.
00:11:47
I just want to say thank you to everybody that has dropped a five star rating or left
00:11:51
a review or done a post on LinkedIn to share about an episode that really helped them.
00:11:57
Thank you.
00:11:57
Thank you.
00:11:58
Thank you.
00:11:59
And until next year, cheers.
